Johan Gising, CEO of AB Karl Hedin Bio Innovation, was invited to speak at Treesearch Progress 2024, held at Vildmarkshotellet in Kolmården on October 9–10, 2024.

Treesearch Progress brings together researchers, industry representatives and invited guests to present and discuss the latest advances in research on new materials from the forest. The conference is an important meeting place for collaboration between academia and industry within forest-based materials and bioeconomy.

In his presentation, Johan Gising shared AB Karl Hedin Bio Innovation’s work on developing advanced and sustainable bio-based materials from sawmill side streams, with a particular focus on application-adapted lignin. The company’s technology enables lignin to be extracted directly from wood chips and sawdust in a single step, creating new opportunities to replace fossil-based raw materials and develop materials with new functional properties.

“It was a pleasure to take part in Treesearch Progress and to discuss how industry and academia can work together to accelerate the development of new materials from the forest. We see great potential in lignin as a platform for sustainable materials, and collaborations such as these are essential to move promising research and innovation closer to application,” says Johan Gising

Participation in Treesearch Progress 2024 reflects AB Karl Hedin Bio Innovation’s commitment to collaboration, innovation and the development of high-value materials from forest-based side streams.
